India is the second largest country consisting of 29 states and seven union territories with a population of 1.2 billion people. In-spite of high sustained economic growth rate still approximately substantial percentage of people lives on less than $2 per day. According to UNICEF 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. India has over 3million children living on the street. 150 million children are working as bounded labourers. Only 50% of the children have access to education. There are 2 million commercial sex workers between 5 to 15 years in India. In this vast socio-economical, religious, traditional and caste oriented country HELPING HANDS INDIA emerged in the year 2001 to transform and empower the vulnerable children and communities in India, regardless of caste, creed, religion, color etc.,

Helping Hands India  begin when compassion, self – experience, commitment and call for the service of vulnerable community knocked the heart of George Fernandes young counselor and theologian. Children calls him Appa (Father). Appa George himself being an semi orphan, through his life experience learnt to be stronger in faith. On the verge of giving up his life due to poverty God transformed his life to transform many lives in the society.
